Almaty International Airport (IATA code ALA) is placed less than twenty kilometers outside the center of the largest city and trade capital of Kazakhstan, Almaty and is the largest airport serving the country. The airport has one terminal and two runways, where the new runway can accept all types of aircraft. Almaty Airport is a main cargo center for Central Asia and is a hub for Air Astana being the national carrier. The airport is connected to the city center by taxis and buses and the journey takes twenty minutes. There are projects for a new terminal for passengers and infrastructure facilities such as hotel, business center and conference halls, shopping center, cinema, etc.
