Located 50 kms from Oslo in the northern direction, is to be found the International Airport "Gardermoen" (IATA code OSL), which is the largest airport in Norway and the main base for the air carriers "Scandinavian Airlines" and "Norwegian Air Shuttle". The airport is relatively new, working since 1998, and has two runways and one terminal with two zones for the domestic and the international flights, each with 17 gates. In addition, the airport has several restaurants and cafes, a variety of shops and a duty-free zone, which is the largest in Europe, as well as ATM machines and bank offices. The terminal also has a special VIP hall for the royalty and various foreign governments. International Airport "Gardermoen" can be reached by car, taxi or by railroad, where the station is located directly under the terminal.
