The official name of Plaisance International Airport (IATA code MRU) is Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Imternational Airport and serves the island of Mauritius. The airport is situated near the city of Plaisance and the coast, at Plaine Magnien and approximately 50 km from the capital of the country Port Louis, in southeastern direction. It is a main hub for Air Mauritius, which is the national airline of the country. Currently, there is one terminal on two levels, the lower one used by the arrivals and the upper one – by the departures. Interesting to be mentioned is that the terminal is open only for the passengers and those who do not travel are not allowed inside. There are plans for the expansion of the airport and the construction of a new terminal. The available airport facilities include two VIP lounges with Internet access, facilities for the disabled passengers, ATM machines, several restaurants, duty-free shops, plus offices of car rental companies. Plaisance International Airport could be reached by taxis and by bus service from Port Louis.
