Vienna International Airport (IATA code VIE) is situated 18 km from central Vienna in southeastern direction, in the district Schwechat. The airport is the hub of the Austrian Airlines and the budget airline Niki. It is the largest and busiest airport in Austria, which has the capacity to operate big aircrafts such as Airbus A340 and Boeing 747. Vienna International Airport handles approximately 20 million passengers a year and at present has three terminals. Terminals 1 and 2 are the main terminals for the regular flights, while terminal 1A is used by the low-cost carriers. The terminals are set in one building and are a short walk from each other. They are operated by Fraport, Swissport, Vienna Airport Handling and Austrian Airlines. Vienna Airport could be reached through the Vienna S-Bahn, the City Airport Train, many buses and a project for a train line S70. There is a plan for enlarging Vienna Airport with a new tower, a new terminal, a third runway and a railway station by year 2015. Currently, the airport has a VIP and Business Service facilities, ten different executive lounges, facilities for the disabled passengers and a hotel opposite the terminal building. The airport facilities further include ATM machines, two post offices, plethora of restaurants and cafes, more than seventy shops, medical center and pharmacy.
