The national airline company of Malta Air Malta was founded in year 1973 and is headquarters are in Malta, while its base is at the modernized airport there. The airline operates flights to 37 scheduled and charter destinations in Europe and North Africa and has a fleet of 14 airplanes of the type Airbus.

According to the baggage requirements of Air Malta, the passengers are entitled to one piece of hand baggage up to 8 kg with dimensions of 18 x 45 x 50 cm. The restriction for the registered baggage is for 20 kg for the Economy Class passengers and 30 kg for the Club Class passengers. Infants are entitled to 10 kg of registered luggage.

The airline works in cooperation with Lufthansa Technik AG for the maintenance of the airplanes and has its own insurance company and tour operator. Air Malta offers the passengers a frequent flyer program with collection of miles, online check-in, as well as a modern entertainment program on board.
