The first Austrian low-cost company Niki was founded in year 2003 and its headquarters are in Vienna. The airline is operating flights to 33 domestic and international destinations in Europe, as well as flights to Egypt. The airline fleet is among the newest in Europe and consists of 15 airplanes of the type Airbus and Embraer.

According to the baggage requirements of airline Niki, passengers are entitled to 6 kg of hand baggage or 8 kg when there is a laptop as well, where the dimensions must not exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm. The restrictions for the checked baggage are for one piece of luggage of up to 20kg for the Economy Class passengers and two pieces of luggage up to 30 kg for the Business Class passengers. The baggage limit during the international flights depends on the destination. On the flights to Canada and the United States, the requirements are for one piece of baggage to 23 kg for the Economy Class passengers and two pieces of luggage up to 32 kg each for the Business Class passengers.

The airline company is owned by Niki Lauda, a former Formula 1 racer. He has a pilot's license and often operates the flights himself. On the board of the airline are served free food and soft drinks, which is not typical for the low-cost airlines. Currently, Niki airline company offers flights every day except Saturday from Sofia to Vienna with convenient connections to other destinations. Flights are operated with Airbus 319 and Embraer 190.
