Athens International Airport (IATA code ATH) serves the Attica region and the capital of Greece Athens. The airport handles traffic of more than 15 million passengers and is also a base and main hub of Olympic Air and Aegean Airlines. Athens International Airport is placed some twenty kilometers outside the center of the city, between the towns of Loutsa, Koropi, Spata and Markopoulo. It has two terminals: a main one that handles the Schengen flights and a satellite terminal that handles the non-Schengen flights. On the airport are available two runways that can operate the Airbus A380 and two robotic systems that can find suspect devices. Athens International Airport is planned to undergo a six-phase upgrade, which will allow the traffic of as many as fifty million passengers. The airport could be reached by bus, train and metro line three.
