Beirut International Airport (IATA code BEY) is officially named Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport, conveniently situated in the southern suburbs, 9 km from the center of the city. This is being the only commercial airport in Lebanon and hub for the Middle East Airlines, which is the national carrier. Together with the Port of Beirut, Beirut International Airport is the main entry into the country. The airport has undergone a ten-year reconstruction program and now is equipped with various modern facilities. Currently, the passengers’ traffic is around six million and the plans are to reach 18 million once the new terminal is open. At the moment, the airport has one main terminal on four levels with two wings and Wi-Fi internet throughout the airport. The available facilities at the Beirut International Airport include three lounges, facilities for the disabled passengers, long- and short-term parking zone, offices of car rental companies. Further are available bank offices, many restaurants and cafes, a huge duty-free zone, first aid service, etc. The airport could be reached by the official airport taxis and some bus lines that stop nearby.
