Mahe International Airport (IATA mode SEZ) is officially known as Seychelles International Airport and is locally named Aeroport de La pointe Larue. It is situated on the Mahe island, at the Seychelles, and is approximately 11 km in southeastern direction to the capital city of the country Victoria. The airport is reached through the highway Victoria – Providence, with the help of frequent buses and taxis. Some of the tour operators also offer coach services to the ferry terminal at the Old Port which is used for connections to the islands and to the New Port, which is used by the cruise ships. Mahe International Airport has two terminals, a domestic one and an international one, which are set a short walk from each other. The airport has underwent a development in the year 2006, when the terminal building was upgraded in order to handle 5 large or 6 small-size aircrafts and the parking areas were set at the northeastern side of the airport in order to handle the business, the charter and the long-stay aircraft. The available onsite airport facilities include a VIP lounge, a system of ramps for the disabled passengers, parking zone for short and longer stay, plus offices of car hire companies. In addition, there are also a bank and ATM Machines, restaurants and bars, as well as duty-free shops.
