Less than 30 kms from the city of Munich in the northern direction lies the second largest airport in Germany – the International Airport "Franz Josef Strauss" (IATA code MUC). The airport has two runways and two terminals. Terminal 1 is divided into five sectors, where the first four serve the arriving and departing passengers, and the last sector handles only the arriving passengers. There is also a special sector for the flights with increased security requirements. Terminal 2 serves the "Lufthansa" airport flights and the flights of the air carriers participating in the "Star Alliance". The terminals are connected with a business center, many shops and rest areas. The International Airport "Franz Josef Strauss" can be reached by metro, bus, private car and taxi.
