Sofia Airport improves security and passenger service

Bulgaria's Sofia Airport will invest 1.6 million euro in improving security and passenger services this year, the transport ministry said.

The investment aims to make the airport meet European Union requirements regarding airport security and passenger services, the ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

Some 1.5 million levs will go to buy 130 surveillance cameras, to add to the current 320 cameras at Sofia airport’s Terminals 1 and 2.

Sofia Airport will also buy 25 metal detector frames worth 700,000 levs and 10 X-Ray devices worth some 1.0 million levs.

Last month Transport Minister Alexander Tsvetkov said Bulgaria will launch a tender to award a concession on Sofia Airport.
