Varna Airport opened a new passenger terminal

Varna Airport opened a new passenger terminal on August 15th, 2013.

The third largest airport in Bulgaria - Varna, opened a new passenger terminal on August 15th, 2013. The opening ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Education Aneliya Klisarova, the CEO of Fraport Aletta von Massenbach, as well as other local and central government officials.

Over BGN 75 million have been invested in the new terminal. It took 20 months to build and it occupies an area of 20 000 sq.m. Passengers will have three times more space compared to the old terminal.

The design and construction of the two new terminals in Varna and Burgas costed over BGN 150 million. The new terminal will begin work on August 27th. Its capacity can be expanded, if needed.

Varna’s passenger terminal was built following increases in passenger traffic. The airport serviced a total of 1.2 million passengers last year.
