The Italian national airline Alitalia with bases in Rome and Milan, serves many destinations in Italy and across the world. Among the air carrier partners are Air France, Aeroflot, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Czech Airlines, Delta Airlines, and others. Since the summer of 2010, the airline began using Air One as its low-cost carrier. The airline fleet includes 150 airplanes, including Boeing 767-300, 777-200, Airbus 319-100, 320-200, 321-100, McDonnell Douglas MD-11, MD-82.

The Alitalia passengers are entitled to one piece of hand baggage up to 5 kg with dimensions 55 x 35 x 25 cm, while the luggage of those traveling in Economy Class is to be 20 kg and those in Business Class - 30 kg.  The members of the loyalty program Ulisse Club are entitled to 10 kg over the allowed luggage weight, and those of the Freccia Alata Club program are entitled to 20 kg over the allowed luggage weight.

Services offered by Alitalia airline loyalty program include Mille Miglia, allowing priority during the check-in and boarding, choice of a seat and access to all waiting halls, as well as reductions when renting a car. In addition, the airline allows transfer of domestic animals such as dogs, cats and birds up to 8 kg in special cells.
