Mexico International Airport (IATA code MEX) is officially named Benito Juarez International Airport, and serves the capital of Mexico, Mexico City. The airport is positioned 13 km from the city in eastern direction and is the busiest airport in the country in terms of passenger traffic as it handles more than 24 million travellers a year. Once renovated, the airport is expected to increase its capacity to 32 passengers per year. It is also the main domestic and international gateway in Mexico, covering more than a hundred destinations in the world offering flights by 31 airlines. Mexico International Airport works with two terminals, where Terminal 2 has been opened in year 2007. The transfer between the two terminals is done by shuttle train and the trip lasts for five minutes only. The available onsite airport facilities include a business center, facilities for the disabled passengers, a large and modern hotel, and several bank offices. Further are available a number of restaurants, shops, duty-free zone, medical center and pharmacies. There are also short- and long-term car parking areas and many offices of car rental companies. Mexico International Airport could be reached by metro, shuttle minibuses from the major hotels, airport buses, and pre-paid taxis.
