In the northern part of Tenerife Island, near the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is located the International Airport "Tenerife North" (IATA code TFN). It plays an important role for the air transportation in the region because it connects the Canary Islands with the Americas and with the European countries. The busiest route is between Tenerife and Gran Canaria with more than 40 flights a day. The airport has one runway and four-storey terminal with 12 gates. The passengers have access to various shops, several bars and cafes, many fast-food restaurants, a business center and ATM machines. The International Airport "Tenerife North" can be reached by taxi or car, as well as by a few bus lines that connect the airport with a number of resorts in the area.
