Sofia Airport registered eight percent increase in the number of serviced passengers.
In November 2010, Sofia Airport registered eight percent increase in the number of serviced passengers. The number of arriving and departing passengers serviced in both terminals of Sofia Airport was 229 806.
The number of passengers on international scheduled flights in November went up by 19 441. By comparison to November 2009, the foreign airlines achieved the largest increase - of 13 percent. Over 12 000 passengers more were carried on scheduled flights by Wizz Air to and from Sofia. The number of passengers carried by the Ukrainian carrier AeroSvit, which flies every day between Kiev and Sofia was tripled.
The total number of airplanes, which took off and landed at Sofia Airport was 3832, which presents a rise of 11.2 percent in comparison to the same month of 2009. The Bulgarian airlines registered an increase of 13 percent, the foreign carriers registered 10 percent growth.
November 2010 was a record month for cargo aviation with 300 flight movements performed by cargo aircraft, which brought about a 17 percent increase against November 2009. The largest increase in the number of flights was attributable to the Bulgarian carrier Air Max and the DHL operator – European Air Transporter.
The volume of freight carried on specialist flights went up by 40 percent to represent 52 percent of the total of 1548 tones of cargo and mail shipments handled at Sofia Airport in November.
